I think a lot about beliefs I hold, that I also don’t really believe in. For example, I think that the concept of public space should be more owned by the public. Which would make graffiti legal. But also, I don’t want some rando to tag a bunch of shit outside my house. In short, I’m skeptical of anyone who has complete conviction over something (outside murder and stuff)– bc life is contradiction.
PIRATE READINGS FOR PIRATE PLLANNERS
I don’t know why I enjoy leaving typos in this header so much. Sorry.

I rediscovered Are.na last week and cam across all sorts of fun books. This also means I haven’t read any of these…

Speculative Everything: Instead of the cover, I’m going to show the preface. It’s a great book to flip through randomly for tangential inspo. (Link)
///
Advertising: A very short introduction: I love this series, and didn’t realize they had an Ad focused one. It’ll probably seem simple, but also I’m willing to bet it’ll include things we all should be reminding ourselves. (link)
More good ones to come next week.

this one os long as hell, but super interesting. Also, while some parts of that movie didn’t age great, it’s still such a great Disney movie because it deviates from the script.
SCREENSHOTS/PHOTOS WITH LIGHT COMMENTARY
I saw this over the weekend. What a simple re-frame. From “trash” to “landfill” completely make you think about throwing things away. Goes from an automatic thoughtless action to a considered choice. A good exercise to think about how we can change a word or two and make people see things completely differently.

Distinctive Brand Assets are powerful. No brand name. Color stripped. I know that’s Volvo. Every brief IMO should include what distinctive assets exist and should be reinforced.

New introduction slide for any deck I ever make re; “digital” strategy.

From a reddit post called “Scientific Diagrams that look like shit” – and indeed true. But, also super interesting. It’s from a piece of research on how VR can be used to change our concept of self. Specifically, make us realize that we’re being kind of a dick. We need that. HOWEVER– while I think VR stunt stuff is dumb, I wonder if anyone has stopped to think about the implications of a technology that has the potential to change your perception of self, likely being in a majority of households in the future.
MISC.
New section! Mostly because I wanted to include this chart. It’s long but I didn’t want to scale it down to make sure it was legible. STRAT SCRAPS and WEEKLY MONSTER are below.
