There's a simple doctrine: outside of a person's love, the most sacred thing that they can give is their labor

In 2014 I left the world of Silicon Valley start ups and moved to New York for a job as the first employee of Day One Agency. The office was another agency’s conference room and meetings were held out of a nearby restaurant.
Day One now has offices in NYC, Chicago, LA and Portland. And since going freelance, I’ve been brought in for client work and internal Strategy Dept. projects. It is really fun to come back to an agency 11 years later and see what has changed and what has stayed the same.
One thing that has stayed the same is their willingness to invest in agency IP. From a newspaper to a radio station they produce things as an agency beyond client work.
Most recently they released the Day One Agency Almanac. Authored/Edited by Clara Malley and Eli Williams, it is as if the Baffler discovered punk and fell in with a bad crowd in the best possible way.

This is the kind of project I want to see more of in the world. From agencies. from individuals or friend groups. from book clubs or neighborhood gardens.
Ever since we started building and reviewing presentations remotely, it seems like there is no longer a dry run presentation or run-through done.

Love that quote about Freelance Strategists providing guidance to more junior strategists. I have observed the agency world promote staff quickly, especially in the strategy space. I would love to know if you have any tips on approaching agencies to provide mentoring and coaching.
