A short one this week. contents include:
a wildly inappropriate 7-up ad
a 3 question survey I hope you’ll take
a shout out to every person that I know who has a book on my bookshelf
and some other random stuff
readysetgo!

At risk of becoming “the survey guy” – I am hoping you could answer these 3 short questions about having fun at work.
There is also one question here that is different that the three linked above.

Three questions to ask yourself at every juncture:

I had a realization the other day. I own a decent amount of print books (or other printed matter) made by people I know to one degree or another.
I love that. Making something that other people get to experience is as close to a spiritual act as I have encountered, and I wanted to shout out the people who have books on my shelf.
From the top:
Matt Kline’s Audience Capture - one of several print objects by Matt and more to come I’m sure.
No Bullshit Strategy by Alex Smith (ok we’ve never met but I just bought his book and I see his stuff on the internet a lot)
Do/Interesting, Russell Davies
The Agile Comms Handbook, Giles Turnbull
Speaking of Handbooks, Handbook For Hacks is missing from the pile because I loaned it to my mom. Which is a huge endorsement in several ways.
Offline Matters, Jess Henderson (we’ve never met either… pretty sure Jess Henderson is a pseudonym, which makes it hard)
Illusion of Choice, Richard Shotton (the second book of his on my shelf. The first being the choice factory, which is also great)
Strategy is Your Words, Mark Pollard – maybe the first person I knew firsthand who published a book
Oden Annual, by Jesse Fukumoto and Haley Jane Hancock: described as “a night at the dinner table, in print”
Fisho Magazine by Nick Marzano – recently shared this one, but another self published example of –as Rick Rubin suggests– make something for yourself then share it with the world
And a final one –also not included in the stack– is Tom Critchlow’s “The Strategic Independent: Theory & Practice for Independent Consultants” which is being published in installments, for free.
The above are not only all great, but they also continue to inspire me. They are the reason I have the survey at the top with the hope to turn the results into the inaugural volume of a short print series I’ve been kicking around in my head for a long time.

If I were a musician, this would probably be the album art for my LP

Another ad from life magazine that I found interesting:

Here is some digital art I made recently, using some photography of mine from high school:

I appreciate you.
